I would like to thank Ms. Liebe for skyping with us from Romania!!!!!!! I think that it was very cool skyping with someone! I had a hard time believing she was all the way in Romania!!!! I felt very bad for the people in poverty there. There are sop many people in poverty there!!! She said that in the capital city they say they have 2 million people but actually there are about 4 million people because about 3 million people there are in poverty. I think that that is just sad. I didn't know that so many homeless people were there.
They have wild dogs running around because when they turned to Communism they had to let them all go. The romanians think we are like the people on M.T.V. A lot of fast food places are being put up. The hospitals are slowly progressing.
I liked skyping yesterday and learning about Romania. Something that stood out to me is that the Romanians think we are just like the people on T.V. I liked how there, they have no curfews. I also learned that drugs are a huge problem in romania, but hopefully this group that helps addiction will help.
Thank you!! It was very interesting learning new things about Romania yesterday.
I feel bad that Romanians don't have a D.A.R.E or CounterAct program. If there was one in place, teens and young adults would know that cigarettes and other addictions are very bad for you. I really liked when you talked about Teen Challenge and what you are doing with teens that are going through addiction and teaching them life skills. That is very useful and I think that is a great thing to be doing. Thank you Mrs.Liebe for Skypeing with me!
The Romanian government, schooling, police, rules, and everything else; is very interesting and I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to listen to what you had to say. It made me sad about your story of all the homeless in Bucharest. It’s hard to believe that there are that many homeless under the streets starving and dying. I believe they should make an effort to eradicate the stray dogs. The culture of the Romanians is also very interesting. The food is a little different from us but not to different. I thought that it would be way different and new to me. I’m also glad that there are new children that weren’t under the communist rule that are going to step up and be leaders in Romania. I hope your organization is doing well! Thank you so much! ~Food~1st~Hour~
Current events 1st hour: thank you Mrs. Liebe. I learned a lot about over there in Romania. I don't know that wild dogs run around. I didn't know that there are a lot of fast food restaurants. I hope that the people over there don't keep thinking that we are just like the people that are on T.V. I didn't know that the police in Romania are so submissive. Over here in the U.S.A. that if cops would do anything they would at least get suspended. I love how the country is trying to help its self and not just letting the country die. Thank you for letting us visit and contact you.
I learnt how bad it really was under a communist rule and how bad a communist government affects a countries economy. I also learned how easily a kid could be caught on drugs and be out on the street. I really liked how you talked about how you talked helping the kids with drugs. I really did not like the idea that the people who were under the communism government act all bummed out and not motivated. But I liked it when I heard that the new generation was stepping up.
Hey thanks for talking to us. I learned that there are fast food places and busses in Romania which is much like the United States. I learned that the language is a little weird like they will say hair purple instead of purple hair. I also learned they sold all there natural resources! Aus 4th hour

I would like to thank Ms.Liebe for Skyping with us yesterday during 4th hour. I felt like I learned a lot of valuable facts about such a diverse country. I found it interesting that the police officers had almost no authority and that they barely ever enforced laws. What she said about the communism dropping was interesting and that people rarely know what rights they have. I also found it interesting that the difference between the bigger cities and the small villages are huge. In bigger cities, there are fast food chains, museums , and lots of cars. In smaller villages, the thing that I found interesting was that the paces to shop and things were small and the food was usually fresh produce.
First off I would like to thank Ms.Liebe for taking her time out of the day to tell us about everything she knew about Romanian culture. I think it was cool that she knew that much about Romania. I like how she told us about the Romanians blaming the United States for a lot of reason like fast food restaurants because the Romanians say it is making everyone fatter or bigger. In Romania the government is very different for the United States, they also don't have a lot of freedom. I thought it was cool that Ms.Liebe said it is 30-50 cents per person to ride the metro or subway or you can by a pass for 30 dollars and it lets you ride when ever for one month. In Romania their holidays are a lot like the United States, they have Christmas and Easter like the United States, but they also have many more. So thank you Ms.Liebe for giving us your time and I hope you can do it again some time. Tre 4th hour
First of all, I would like to thank Mrs. Liebee for skypeing with us. I thought it was interesting that Romanian people blamed America for their weight. I also thought it was unique how so many people keep these traditions and customs throughout their family for all these years. I thought it was cool that Romania was so much like the United States. I thought it was kind of unique that police in Romania don't have much authority. Jor 4th hr
I learned many things about Romania. I wasn't really shocked when I learned that the traffic was crazy because my friend went to Europe and she said it was just like a clump of cars trying to run each other off the road! The food sounded like it tastes really good! I was interested by the fast food restaurants and how the main majority of them are in the capital. I like how all of the people keep their roots and celebrate the traditions that their ancestors did. Romania was very fascinating and I hope I can learn more in the future about the culture! I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to skype with me and inform me on a culture that I hardly knew!! Thank you so much and I wish you luck on your project!!!!!!
I would to thank Mrs. Liebe for skyping with us all the way from Romania it was very interesting and i learned a lot of new things about Romania. I learned that they have some similarities like the ways they travel in big cities, eating a fast food restaurants, and some of the clothing they wear. I also learned that there are a lot of different things about Romania for example they speak Romanian, they have a socialist government, some people just park anywhere, most of there national resources have been sold off to other countries, and the grandparents usually take care of the children while the parents go to work. Thank you! ~Gabrielle 4th hour
Lea 4th hour I loved skyping with Mrs. Liebe! It's amazing how it's possible to skype with somebody so far away. Mrs. Liebe had a lot of information for us and I would like to thank her for sharing it. I thought it was pretty crazy how there are over 1 million cars in Romania's capital, and that people park in the streets and on sidewalks! I also thought it was weird how to police in Romania don't take much authority and let people get away with a lot more then they would in America, but the crime rates in Romania are pretty low so that might explain why.
Thank you so much Mrs. Liebe for skying with us!!!!!! I learned so much. The radio's are just like they are in the US. I also learned that grandparents take a lot of care for there grandchildren. I also learned that Bucharest has more fast food and restaurants than other countries. My topic was entertainment, Sam 4th hour.
Thank You Mrs. Liebe for Skyping with us. I enjoyed learning new things about Romania. I did not know most of this stuff before but you told us and it was very fun. I cant believe that people just park their cars where ever they want to. I also thought it was funny when you told us that the Romanians blame us for making them fat!! i thought the food that you eat was interesting too. It was funny how people make fun of the cops there.
Current Events, 4th Hr.I would like to thank Mrs. Liebe for skyping with us from Romania. I learned that you don't always get pulled over for speeding past a cop, because they aren't as strict in Romania as they are here in Richland Center.
Thanks to Mrs. Liebe for skyping with us and giving us so much information about Romania! I find it cool to know that there are FORD cars there!!!!!!!!!!!(I LOVE FORD ) It is sad to hear how many people are living in poverty there! But it is great to know that Mrs. Liebe and her husband are helping the drug addicts:)!!! Learning the story about the Romanian getting out and yelling at the cop was really cool because if you yelled at a cop in America you might get shot. The language is also interesting and kind of funny because of the order they say things in. I think that it would be fun to go to a pig roast because I love pork!!!!!! It is weird to here how Grandparents always watch the kids, not the parents. People in Romania seem to eat the same dinner (lunch) as I do (just a sandwich). I'm sorry to that American fast food is making the Romanians fat. But i also think that they don't have to eat the food. The other foods from Romania sound pretty good. It was nice to here that they still have Christmas there. I'm sorry to hear that many people still want it to be a communist country. It is good that the younger people want to change that though. THANKS AGAIN MRS. LIEBE!!!!!! IT WAS AWSOME LEARNING ABOUT ROMANIA!!!!!!!!!!!! Megan Frawley 4th hour

I learned many interesting things during the Romanian Skype. Romania has fewer freedoms than us, and they are trying to be independent. Romania has been trying to do this for 22 years. There are many differences in their language and grammar. In Romanian they put nouns before adjectives. In Romanian, the language structure is very different from language patterns in English. Friends air kiss each other on the cheeks when they greet. Greetings in Romanian are very formal (greet using titles). In Bucharest, the capital city, there are 1 million cars. Small cars are very popular in Romania. The drivers in Romania are very aggressive and have very little patience. Romania sold most of its natural resources to other countries after communism ended, because they needed the money to get out of debt. This has made prices go up in Romania. Some of their natural resources are red marble and many precious types of stone. Romanians in the city wear clothes like Americans. There are so many things that I didn’t know about Romania. Thanks you so much Mrs. Liebe
I thought that the wild dogs running around was very interesting because around here there are no wild dogs. I felt really bad for the people in poverty! The education was kind of interesting to because the orphans get a less education than the people who aren't an orphan. Thank you Mrs. Liebe
I want to thank Mrs.Leibe for skyping with us. I thought it was surprising knowing that Romania had so many things they were known for and then they were sold for money. I also can't believe they have so many people in poverty. She said that they had at least 4 million people total and 3 million were in poverty.
I thought it was very interesting, the whole thing. It is very different in Romania than it is here in America. I thought the whole cars parking on sidewalks was really crazy. There are a lot of orphans there. I feel bad for them. And also I think its pretty funny that the Romanians blame us Americans for creating McDonald's and them getting overweight because we created it. Thank you Mrs. Liebe!! -Jen 4th hr.

In Romania they don't have curfew like we do. People there are big on drugs and easily addicted. Their economy is really poor, people are living on the streets/homeless. Their cars are a lot smaller than in the U.S. They have a lot of BMWs.

Thanks Ms. Liebe for talking with us an skype the other day. I was surprised when you had mentioned about how hard it is to find a parking spot. How some people even park on the side walk.I was also surprised when people could go and yell at the police if there not doing what they were supposed to be doing. Thanks again
I learned a lot about Romania from the Skype. I learned that people feel that the government doesn’t give them much freedom. They put nouns before adjectives. Drivers are really crazy there. People park anywhere they can, even in the middle of the street. Romanian’s usually get their driver’s licenses in their 20s. Buses are a popular form of transportation. Pork and chicken are staples. There are a lot of homegrown fruits and vegetables, but in the city there is a lot of fast food. They follow the Orthodox Church. Most of the crime they have is theft. Police aren’t respected very much. Romanians get small gifts in their shoes around the first week in December. Pig roastings are a popular Christmas sweatshirt. A week before Christmas, everyone leaves Bucharest. Families are more tightly knit. Folk, pop, and techno music are popular. Romanian radio stations have the same things as the U.S. Clothing is a lot like the U.S., but it is more expensive. I would like to thank Mrs.Liebe for the informative Skype. It was a lot of fun.
Thanks for Skyping with us Ms. Liebe. One thing that stood out to me was that people had like 10 kids. But they couldn't support them all, so people would put their kids in orphanages or leave them in the hospital. Then Romania made children abandonment centers
With this skype, I really learned a lot of things I never knew. There were a few things that I really sat and thought about. One thing that I really thought about is the troubled teens. This makes me really want to help because I've seen firsthand what drugs do to people and it is sad and scary. I wish I could help the troubled teens by almost like having a intervention over skype.
The other thing that really made me sit and thing was the fact that certain religious groups only go to curch to basically make themselves feel better. I feel like they just go to say, yeah I went. I feel that that is disrespectful from the way I view it because I feel like when people go to church, they go to make spiritual connection.
Thank you so much Mrs. Liebe. I enjoyed the skype and learning about Romania. 1st hr.
Thank you so much Ms. Liebe for Skyping with us!! :) I found it interesting that communism told the people of Romania to get rid of their pets, and as a result many stray dogs and cats are running around. I also learned that their are people parking on sidewalks! I think thats crazy. Thank you!

It was also fun learning about how aggressive everyone is while driving. it was also funny how disrespected the cops were. I am glad they are doing something to change that though. Once again, thanks for your time.

In Romania they don't have curfew like we do. People there are big on drugs and easily addicted. Their economy is really poor, people are living on the streets/homeless.
ReplyDeleteTheir cars are a lot smaller than in the U.S.

ReplyDeleteI learned a lot about Romania from the Skype.

ReplyDeleteThe other thing that really made me sit and thing was the fact that certain religious groups only go to curch to basically make themselves feel better. I feel like they just go to say, yeah I went. I feel that that is disrespectful from the way I view it because I feel like when people go to church, they go to make spiritual connection.
Thank you so much Mrs. Liebe.
I enjoyed the skype and learning about Romania.

ReplyDeleteThank you so much Ms. Liebe for Skyping with us!! :) I found it interesting that communism told the people of Romania to get rid of their pets, and as a result many stray dogs and cats are running around. I also learned that their are people parking on sidewalks! I think thats crazy. Thank you!

Thanks you Mrs. Liebe for skyping with our class! It really helped us learn more about Romania. One thing that really stood out to me while we were skyping is that Romania sold all of their resources to other countries to help get out of dept during communism! I can’t imagine what gas prices are. Thanks again!

ReplyDeleteThanks to Mrs.
ReplyDeleteThe other foods from Romania sound pretty good.
