What parts of the Skype stood out? When Renea spoke to us about all of the homeless people in parts of Romania, it really struck me. She mentioned that Bucharest has a population of about two million people. If you included the homeless people, there would be about four million people. Renea also mentioned how Romania was underneath communist rule. I learned that the government banned birth control leaving families ten to twelve children! In some situations, women had to give up their children and let them live on the street or in orphanages all because communists wanted a higher population. I also learned that Russia owns a lot of Romania's utilities, which sometimes makes the bills higher. What parts of the culture would you like to see in the United States? One of the things I would bring back to the United States is collectivism, because all people in Romania care for each other and not just themselves. People in Romania remind of me of a family, which I think is really unique. People in the United States only have individualism, where they only care about their own needs. I would also bring back some of the Romanian traditions like eating the cabbage roll. It is always good to have a minor change in our traditions, as there is nothing wrong with that! By Brooklyn 2nd Hour
I learned that Romania doesn’t do a lot of exporting due to most of everything they have is owned by other people, I learned that they have a lot more public transportation use and they have faster internet. They play a lot of soccer, but they have a lot of riots because of it, they have a corrupt government, but they are trying to move forward and get rid of the corruption.
The fact that people on the street run up to people and try to sell they things for a cheap price for their money.
#2. From the Romanian culture, what would you bring to the U.S? The culture of Romania that I would bring to the United States would be to eat a little bit slower.
1. What really impacted me was that the police would just pull over a person no matter what and accuse them of something they never did to just get money from them. They also take away your license if you run a red light.
2. I would bring back the bread that she said is very common there. I would also bring back their small cars. By: Kassie 1st hr.
The parts of the skype that really impacted me was that they spend a lot of time with family, and they take time to eat while visiting each other. I also enjoyed the fact that they make time for sports.
Something I would bring to the US is the idea of going to schools at different times depending on the different grades. I would also like to have the idea of taking time to eat, and spending more time with family.
What parts of the Skype impacted you? I felt troubled by the fact that EU is spoken so highly of even though it has been having major issues recently. While I believe that it is important to be patriotic and support your government, it a very different matter to turn a blind eye to the issues that your government faces.
From the Romanian culture, what would you bring to the US? I think that the Romanian value on the family has been lost in America. They keep multiple generations of their families much closer than in America. Andrew 1st Hour
The parts of skyping that really impacted me was when she was talking about how much the taxi was a mile and when she said what kind of crashes that are more likely to happen. Also about how many crashes a day and she said,” A lot.”
From the Romanian culture I would bring the taxis and the taxi drivers here because, they are a lot more cheaper. I would also bring back the small cars with me.
The thing in the romanian culture that really impacted me is that it takes 5-7 hours to get through Romania. If I could bring something over to the US it would probably be that there is not that crime throughout Romania. Brett 1st hour
What stood out to me was that Renea Liebe answered most of the questions very well unless she didn’t know about the question asked.
The part of the culture that i would like to bring to the U.S. from Romania is the sports they play.
Thank you, Renea, for taking the time out of your day to skype with us. It was very informational and I enjoyed it alot. I realize how difficult it is to coordinate when we are going to skype because of the time differences. Again, I thank you for taking the time out of your day to answer our questions on skype.
Jaszamin 2nd hour :The parts of the Skype interview that stood out would be that your grandparents take care of your kids instead of a friend or getting a babysitter. I also liked how your family is close by. I would like to see more families getting together on the holidays. In the US some families miss out on getting to spend time with their families on the holidays.I would also like to have school in 3 different times of the day. I just find it cool that Romanians have that. Thank you so much for the Skype interveiw. I learned a lot about Romania.
Cynthia 2nd hr. Reflection 1. The things that stood out to me is that, Easter is the same time in Romania for every 5 years. Older men wear three piece suits, and older women wear something to cover their head. Not everything on the internet is true. Renea Liebe answered most of our questions, and we thank her so much for skyping with us. 2. The things I would like to see in the US is the sports in Romania.
Vianca 2nd hour 1) What part of the Skype stood out? The part that stood out for me is that in Romania is the education: about the students start to look for colleges, since they go into high school and also, that there are three different times of school which are morning, afternoon and night. In the hospitals the people had to pay for their medicine and if they wanted more medicine the doctors would ask for more. The most popular sport in Romania is soccer. Last, that after communism fell the government started to sell natural resources to other countries.
2) What part of the culture would you like to see in the US? I would like to see their celebrations like the Easter parties with the smoked pig and with the music and also, with all the people dancing to the music. Thank You
The parts on skype that impact me the most is how many homeless people their are, their are around 2 million. Have to do alot of farming by hand. Plus, is the safest place to live. And they banned birth control.
The ideas that stood out to me the most about the Skype was how they had the same seasons as us, how they wear the same clothes as we do. How they play a lot of the same sports. The last thing was how their might not be a famous girls team for any sport. Things I would like to take home with me is the different times you can go to school. I would like to thank Renae for listening to me and answering my questions.
The part of the skype that stood out to me was the sports because i didn't know that they played the same games we did. THe other thing that stood out was the family because they had banned birth control.
THe part of the culture i would like to see in the US is how they celebrate there holidays and stuff like that.
I world like to thank Renea Liebe for the time she took to talk to us and how she almost all are questions. So i thank her for every thing.
The parts of the skype that stood out were when she talked about the country's financial state. Romania seems like it is really trying to get back on it’s feet, after being a communist country, and wants to improve it’s government.
From the Romanian culture I would bring the more laid back attitude. America needs to slow down a little and enjoy the world around them, like Romanians. Also, it is common for Romanian families to live with each other, while in the states grandparents usually do not live with their children and their family. Children learn respect for their elders and learn about another generation before them when they live together. Plus, each generation has its' own ideas and beliefs. We can all learn things from each other, which I feel Americans sometimes forget. -Blake 1st Hour

What parts of Skype stood out? The parts that stood out to me was definitely the money or economy, Renea said that Romania is still a third world country which suprised me a lot. My topic was agriculture and it was very interesting to find out that the farmers in Romania don't have money for machines so the do a lot of hand work. One of the most suprising things was that they were a communist country and are still recovering from that.
